The national park’s name comes from its original inhabitants, the Taino Indians. In their language “Haitises” translates to highlands or Hills, a reference to the coastline’s steep geological formations with Limestones. Adventure deeper into the park to explore caves such as the Cueva de la Arena and Cueva de la Linea. Caves in the reserve were used as shelter by the Taino Indians and, later, by hiding pirates. Look for drawings by Indians that decorate some of the walls. After visiting Los Haitises National Park, we will go back to the port where our trip started.

Picked up on time from Cap Cana in Melvin’s very comfortable vehicle which drove us safely to Los Haiteses. The discovery of this natural park and its wonders in a private version was particularly interesting and complete. We had already done it in a group version and we were really able to appreciate the difference. The only thing to improve would be the buffet at the hotel which lacks variety and especially typical dishes. We don’t come to the Dominican Republic to eat spaghetti but rather mafongos. We highly recommend this excursion
