The trek is easy and requires a basic fitness level starting at 8am in order to arrive first on site. The trail is about 2 kilometers long, it goes up and down, but nothing too steep. The walk takes about 45 minutes, more if you stop often to take pictures.
The views along the way are breath-taking, with lush hills and the sea on the horizon. Most of the path is shady, the trail winds through the jungle, and some cacao and coffee fields at the beginning.
You have to cross the river a few times, it’s not deep, but it’s a good idea to pack slip-proof shoes that can get wet for the trek, especially if it has been raining as the path can get pretty muddy.
Before reaching the waterfall, you’ll get a stunning view over the lush jungle, with the waterfall peeping from the trees. There, you’ll find a small local shop where you can buy snacks and drinks, as well as local items such as cacao and coffee. You can also try Mamajuana, a type of local rum infused with dozens of local herbs, some with medicinal properties. Just ask your guide about it!
You can get under the waterfall to enjoy a strong massage or get a bit further under it to see the hidden caves.
The water is just the perfect temperature to relax after the walk, with the pool shaded by the trees. Depending on rainfalls and the season you’re visiting, the amount of water coming out of the waterfall might not be the same, but you’ll always be able to swim in the pool.
