Description

Join a boat ride through the Los Haitises National Park and swim in the 14 natural pools with waterfalls of the Hotel Caño Hondo. Enjoy a unique experience in the coastal north of the Dominican Republic.

Meet at the Hotel Caño Hondo entrance. From this hotel, located on the outskirts of the Sabana de la Mar, take a 10-minute drive to the Caño Hondo pier.

At the pier, begin a 2-hour boat ride through the Los Haitises National Park. Sail through the mangroves of this protected natural area and the San Lorenzo Bay. Continue the journey along the Cayo de Los Pájaros and the old Pier La Perla.

Afterward, continue the boat ride visiting the La Arena Cave and La Línea Cave, two remarkable grottos adorned with paintings and petroglyphs from indigenous civilizations. After exploring these caverns, return to the boat and start the journey back to the Caño Hondo pier.

Once you arrive, head back to the Hotel Caño Hondo, where you can rest and enjoy a delicious Criollan lunch. The menu includes green salad, potato salad, minutas de pescado (small, seasoned fish fillets, breaded and fried), chicharrón de pollo (chicken cracklings), pasta, white rice, string beans, moro de gandules con coco (traditional Dominican dish of rice, beans, and coconut milk), and a sweet coconut treat for dessert. Beverages include mineral water, a soft drink, or coffee with milk.

After lunch, rest at the hotel’s terrace. You’ll also have 4 hours of free time to enjoy the 14 natural pools with waterfalls in Caño Hondo.

7 reviews for Los Haitises Boat Ride + Caño Hondo Natural Pools

  1. Nataliia – Canada

It was a wonderful day. The excursion was top notch. All the places were very beautiful, I saw the real Dominican Republic. The organization was clear and punctual. The driver was a great professional. The photographers tried very hard. The guide was beyond praise, he spoke three languages, paid attention to everyone, was very informative, cheerful and charming. I will remember this day forever. RECOMMEND!!!

  2. Jesus – Spain

Super complete activity. Picked up on time, guide present at all times making an effort to explain and keep us company. Excellent level of knowledge. Drinks on the bus during the journey. Toilet stalls with coffee and Mamajuana. Good views and photos in Montaña redonda. Spectacular Haitises and Manglares. Very good lunch with live explanations about coffee plantations, cocoa, processed products, etc. Very good and quick management of a flat tire on the bus (things that happen but are not always resolved well and in this case they did not hesitate to call us taxis). A 10

  3. Los Haitises traveler – United States

The activity was very dynamic and entertaining. The contact with nature and all the activities included were super fun.

  4. Chloé – Canada

Very enriching! Too bad you can’t see very well in the cave but everything is well explained! It should be noted that there is a short boat trip. The meal is delicious!
